Book talk in Lewes 27th April

Spotted this free talk that may be of interest to the group. Friday 27 April, 7-9.30pm, Linklater Pavilion, Railway Land Nature Reserve, Lewes. http://www.transitiontownlewes.org/active_hope.html Its about a new book called Active Hope (or how to face the mess we're in without going crazy) it focuses on activism around sustainability but I thought the psychological aspect of campaigning might be helpful. Naomi Klein recommends it “Books about social and ecological change too often leave out a vital component: how do we change ourselves so that we are strong enough to fully contribute to this great shift? Active Hope fills this gap beautifully, guiding readers on a journey of gratitude, grief, interconnection and, ultimately, transformation.” Anyway, I'll be going if anyone wants to join me.

  1. Is activism therapy? This blog piece struck a chord with me, and I rather like the term Dark Optimism http://www.darkoptimism.org/2011/06/15/is-activism-therapy/
